Synced charges
Sales, fees, ad fees, shipping labels and refunds come in from your connected eBay account, on every plan.
Strooply syncs your eBay sales and charges, subtracts your cost, and shows net profit per item and per period. No spreadsheet to maintain.
Sales, fees, ad fees, shipping labels and refunds come in from your connected eBay account, on every plan.
Add what you paid on the item, by CSV import, by receipt scan (Pro and Team plans, in the app) or by lot (Pro and Team plans).
See profit for each sale, and the Financials P&L for 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, 1 year or year to date in the web portal.
This is the shape of a sale breakdown, using our example item, the 1900 Robinson Crusoe. Every amount below is made up for illustration. The fee lines come from the sale on eBay, so real figures depend on your category, Store level and ads.
| Line | Sample amount |
|---|---|
| Sold price | $40.00 |
| Shipping charged to the buyer | $6.00 |
| eBay fees (from the sale) | -$6.66 |
| Promoted listing ad fee (if used) | -$0.92 |
| Shipping label | -$6.00 |
| What you paid | -$8.00 |
| Net profit for this sale | $24.42 |
Before eBay posts the payout, the figure starts from the sale amount minus fees, so it can change when the payout arrives.
eBay's transaction report is a CSV of transaction rows. Shipping label charges and ad fees appear as their own rows, and an order with several items spans more than one row, so the file is not one line per sale with a profit figure.1 Seller Hub also lets you download orders and listings reports for a date range, and schedules are offered for orders and marketing reports.2
Earnings from an order are not profit until you subtract what you paid for the item. eBay has described an optional Your cost field that shows a cost next to order earnings in Seller Hub.3 Check in your own Seller Hub whether your account shows it. Whichever way you record cost, it only covers items you entered it for, so a sheet or a tool still has to bring the costs, fees, labels and ads together. That is the part people end up rebuilding by hand.
Once you connect your eBay account, sales and eBay charges sync into Strooply. Sales sync automatically, every hour on paid plans, which can also refresh any time, and every 6 hours on the Free plan, which has limited manual refreshes. For each sale, Strooply brings in these amounts from eBay:
Net profit for a sale is what you received after those charges, minus what you paid for the item. Once eBay posts the payout, Strooply uses the actual payout as the starting amount. Before the payout posts, the figure is the sale amount minus fees, so it can change when the payout arrives. Profit for a sale also subtracts any purchase tax you recorded, and any consignor share if you track consignors.4

eBay cannot know what you paid at the thrift store, so cost is the one input that comes from you. There are four ways to give an item a cost:
| Report | What it shows | Plans | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Financials P&L | Periods of 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, 1 year and year to date, with lines for gross revenue, marketplace fees, promoted listing fees, shipping labels, other fees, item cost and purchase tax | every plan | Web portal |
| Analytics and velocity | Sales analytics and how quickly items sell | Starter, Pro, and Team | Web portal |
| Source ROI | How purchases from each source performed | Pro and Team | App and web portal |
| Tax summary | Year or quarter totals for your records, not tax advice | Pro and Team | App (CSV), web portal (summary) |
| Receipts, lots, trips | Purchase receipts, lot cost splits and sourcing trips | Pro and Team | Scanning in the app, viewing in both |
The tax summary is a set of totals to help you keep records. It is not tax advice, and the 1099-K guide explains what eBay reports to the IRS. Ask a qualified tax professional about your own situation.
CSV import is included on every plan in the app. Strooply recognizes the eBay Seller Hub orders report, the transaction report and the listings report, and you review how each column maps before anything is imported. Profit, net profit, ROI and margin columns in your file are ignored on purpose and recomputed from the fees and cost, so an old formula cannot carry a mistake over. On the web portal the import button is on the Analytics page, which is included on Starter, Pro, and Team plans.
Files must be CSV. If your sheet is an Excel or Numbers file, save or export it as CSV first.
You can download all your data as one CSV from Account settings, on every plan. It includes every eBay-linked item with sold price, fees, label cost, ad fee, payout, cost and net profit. Only the account owner can request it, and it is emailed as a link that expires after 30 days. See the good to know list below for what the file leaves out.
| Question | Spreadsheet | Strooply |
|---|---|---|
| Who enters each sale | You, or a paste from an eBay report | Sales sync from eBay once your account is connected |
| Fee math | Formulas you write and keep current | Charges come from eBay's own records for each order |
| Labels and ads | Separate rows to match up by hand | Attached to the sale they belong to |
| Lots | A split you calculate yourself | One purchase price split across the items not yet listed or sold, on Pro and Team plans |
| Receipts | Photos in a folder | Scanned and linked to items, on Pro and Team plans |
| Where it works | Wherever you open the file | iPhone, Android and the web portal, with the differences noted above |
Start with what the buyer paid, then subtract eBay's fees, the shipping label, any ad fee, refunds, and what you paid for the item. The eBay fee calculator works through a single sale, and the Store break-even calculator compares fees with and without a Store.
From eBay, the transaction report is a CSV you can open in a spreadsheet.1 From Strooply, you can download your account data as one CSV, described under getting your data out above.
Only if you entered it in eBay's own Your cost field, if your account shows that field.3 Otherwise eBay's earnings figures leave your cost out. In Strooply you enter it on the item, by import, by receipt or by lot.
Sales and charges sync from eBay automatically, every hour on paid plans, which can also refresh any time, and every 6 hours on the Free plan, which has limited manual refreshes.
Yes, as a CSV, on every plan in the app. You review the column mapping first, and profit columns are recomputed rather than imported.
Only through CSV import. Strooply syncs sales from eBay.
Strooply keeps your synced sales, the costs you enter and your scanned receipts in one place, so they are there when you or a tax professional want to look at them. The 1099-K guide and the cost of goods sold guide explain the background. This page is not tax advice.
Strooply is an app for eBay resellers that identifies items from photos, shows live comps and sold-price estimates, drafts eBay listings for your review, and tracks costs and profit.
