At a glance

What is in the template

One row per sale

Sold price, what you paid, eBay fees, label and supplies sit on one row, and the workbook fills in the fee math and net profit.

Google Sheets and Excel

Open the workbook in either one, or use the plain CSV. No macros, and nothing is uploaded.

Columns match Strooply's import

The first group of columns uses the names Strooply's CSV import recognizes, so a saved CSV maps without renaming.

Two files, same columns. The workbook calculates fees and profit for you. The CSV is a plain table you can paste or import anywhere. Both start with three rows of sample numbers, marked SAMPLE, to show the format. Delete them and enter your own sales.

What goes where

What each column is for

The first group uses the same column names Strooply's CSV import recognizes, so a file saved from this template maps without renaming. Dates are easiest to read as YYYY-MM-DD. Strooply treats a row as sold when it has a sold price or a sold date, and you can also pick the Status column yourself in the mapping step.

The second group is for your own math. Strooply's import ignores these columns and works out profit itself from the cost and fees it imports, so they do not need to be removed. The label and supplies columns are not imported.

The math

How to work out profit per sale

Net profit = item price x quantity + shipping charged to the buyer - eBay fees - label - supplies - what you paid for the item

eBay charges its fees on the total sale amount, which includes the item price, the shipping the buyer pays and any sales tax. In this template, sales tax is used only to work out the fee amount, and the Net Profit formula above does not add it in. eBay also adds a fixed per-order fee, and an ad charge applies if you promote the listing. The ad charge is a percentage of the total sale amount.12

The workbook starts with the fee level for Most categories for sellers without an eBay Store: 13.6% of the sale total up to $7,500.00 per item, then 2.35% on the part over that, plus $0.30 per order when the order total is $10.00 or less, and $0.40 above that. Store fees differ, and so do other categories and seller levels. These figures were checked on September 27, 2026. Change the numbers on the Settings sheet to match your category.

As an illustration, here is what the three sample rows work out to. These are sample numbers, not a prediction for any item.

For the arithmetic on a single sale in any category, use the eBay fee calculator. To split one receipt across several items, see the guide on splitting a receipt across items, and for how cost is counted, the cost of goods sold guide.

Mistakes that make sheet profit wrong

  • Taking the fee on the item price only. eBay counts shipping and sales tax in the amount its fee is charged on.
  • Leaving out the per-order fee, which applies to every order.
  • Taking the ad charge on the item price only, when it applies to the total sale amount.
  • Forgetting the label. If the buyer paid shipping, count that as revenue and the label as a cost.
  • Putting a whole lot's cost on one item, or on none. Spread it across the items it covers.
  • Using a fee rate from a different category or Store level than the one the sale was in.
Keep it importable

Keep the sheet ready to import

  • Use one row per sale or per order line.
  • Use Active or Sold in the Status column.
  • Keep the header names as they are. A bare Date, Location or Item column can be read as the listing date, the storage location or the title.
  • Save the Sales sheet as CSV UTF-8. Strooply's import reads CSV files, not .xlsx.
  • Order Number is read only when your account has the newer import enabled, so it is safe to leave in the file but do not rely on it yet.
When the sheet gets heavy

Move the sheet into Strooply

Strooply's CSV import is on every plan in the app. You upload the file, review how each column maps, and confirm. Strooply works out profit from the cost and fees it imports. After that, sales and eBay charges can be brought in from your connected eBay account instead of typed. See how Strooply works for what it does today.

Questions

Spreadsheet template questions

How do I keep track of my eBay sales?

Keep one row per sale with the sold price, the date, what you paid for the item, the eBay fees, the label and any ad charge. The template has a column for each. Strooply can instead pull sales from eBay once you connect your account.

Can I use this in Google Sheets?

Yes. In Google Sheets choose File, then Import, then Upload, and pick the CSV or the workbook. The columns and sample rows come across, and the workbook's formulas work in Sheets.

Does the template calculate eBay fees?

The workbook does, using the fee settings on its Settings sheet for sellers without a Store in Most categories. Your category, Store and seller level may use other rates, so check the figures against your order or the fee calculator. The CSV has no formulas, so type the fee from your order there.

Can I import my own spreadsheet into Strooply?

Yes, as a CSV file. Strooply shows how each column of your file maps to its fields and you review the mapping before anything is imported.

Why is there a CSV and not only an Excel file?

Strooply's import reads CSV files, not .xlsx. Use the workbook for the formulas, then save the Sales sheet as CSV UTF-8 when you want to import it.

Is there a mileage log?

Yes. The sourcing mileage calculator page has a separate mileage log template you can download.
