How to list faster on eBay without cutting corners.
Set up the repeated parts once, let identifiers fill the form, use eBay's scan and bulk tools where they fit, and keep a review step so speed does not turn into relisting and returns.

Do the repeated work one time
Most of the typing in a listing is the same from item to item: shipping terms, return terms, and the way you describe condition. eBay offers two places to save it.
Business policies are the payment, shipping and return details you specify for buyers. eBay says you can save them as reusable templates rather than set the terms on each listing, and apply them when creating new listings or to update multiple existing listings.1 Our business policies guide covers how to set them up.
Listing templates are a separate feature. eBay says you can create up to 50 different templates, and that with them you no longer have to start from scratch every time you list an item.2 You create one in Seller Hub, give it a name that makes the item type easy to recognize, and add your listing details. To list from one, you open the listing templates page and choose Create listing from the Actions menu.2
Our suggestion: make one template per kind of thing you list often, such as one for paperback books and one for a type of clothing, and keep the wording in each one specific to that kind of item. A template full of generic text is something you have to edit every time, which defeats the point.
Choosing a category is the other step that repeats. Our category guide covers it.

One photo station, one album per session
Our suggestion, not an eBay rule: photograph everything for a session in one place with the same light and background, then work through the photos in order. Switching between photographing, researching and typing costs more attention than doing each in a block.
A few eBay rules prevent rework. eBay says photos must be at least 500 pixels on the longest side, and its picture policy prohibits added borders, added text, artwork or marketing material, and watermarks of any type.3 A photo with a watermark or a text overlay is one you may have to retake. eBay says you can add up to 24 pictures, and that the first one you add is the main photo, which should show the whole item face-on.4 See the AI listing tools guide for more on how photos feed a draft.
Enter the code and check the match
Seller Center lists UPCs, ISBNs and manufacturer part numbers as product identifiers, and says the type you use varies by category.5 It also says eBay suggests a match if the product is already in its catalog, and that if there is a match, many of the fields such as photo and title will be pre-populated.5 That page does not promise a match for every product, so look at what came back before you accept it. Edition, format and variant are the usual places a catalog match differs from the copy in your hand.
Our barcode guide covers scanning codes, and the item specifics guide covers the fields a match may leave open.
Trading cards and books
For trading cards, eBay has a Scan to list tool. Its help page says you can use it to list sports trading cards and other collectible card games, that it is not available on desktop or mobile web, and that once you finish scanning a card, a draft of your listing is created.6 The page also says you are responsible for the details in your listing, so you should review them before you publish, that you can edit the item specifics in the draft, and that it expects your own pictures, front and back, up to 24 in total.6 So the scan saves typing, and the photos, the review and the publish are still yours.
For books, the ISBN is the identifier to enter or scan, as described above.5 Check that the edition the match shows is the edition you have.
Uploading many drafts from a file
Seller Hub Reports lets you upload listing data as a file feed in CSV and Excel formats, and eBay says that with the Draft action you can create up to 2000 drafts per day, with up to 12 images per listing.7 The same page says drafts expire and are deleted from 30 days up to 45 days, and that a standard upload, unlike a draft upload, automatically lists the items as specified.7 Read that difference before you upload, because a standard upload does not stop for a review.
A file only helps if the data in it is already clean, and building that data is its own work. We did not verify any other eBay bulk tool for this guide, so we describe none.
What to keep, even when you are in a hurry
We found no credible, independent measurement of how long a listing takes, so this guide gives no time figures. Whatever your time per listing is, the checks below cost less than a return or a relist.
- Condition and flaws. A template or a draft states what is typical, and your item is the one in your hand. Add flaws in your own words.
- The match. A catalog match or a scan can be the wrong edition, size or variant. Compare it with the item.
- Item specifics and category. Confirm both. The title guide and the category guide cover them.
- Shipping and price. Weigh the item before you set the shipping charge, and work out the profit in the eBay fee calculator. See the shipping supplies guide for packing costs.
- AI drafts. A draft is a starting point, not a verified record. The review checklist applies to any tool.
Photo drafts, barcode scans and bulk drafts
In Strooply, photo drafts are available on every plan. Vision AI suggests a title, description, category, condition guidance and item specifics from your photos, and nothing publishes to eBay until you review the draft and confirm it. Strooply publishes using your eBay business policies.
Barcode scanning is available on every plan, in the app, where the camera reads UPC and EAN codes, including the EAN-13 on books. On the web you enter the code by hand. A scan uses one of your monthly lookups, and a code you looked up recently is not charged again while its saved result is still fresh (about 24 to 48 hours).
The Bulk Media Lister is available on Team plans, in the app only. You scan media barcodes, up to 10 items at a time, which are grouped by category, and push a group to your drafts. It does not add photos and it does not publish. You add photos to each draft and publish each item yourself. Strooply holds up to 30 active drafts. See how Strooply works for the full picture.
Check comps and estimated profit, then review the draft before you list
Strooply is an app for eBay resellers that identifies items from photos, shows live comps and sold-price estimates, drafts eBay listings for your review, and tracks costs and profit.
